About this day
Over the Remutaka Range from Wellington, the Wairarapa is a different world: wide farmland, Victorian main streets in Greytown and Carterton, and a wine village at Martinborough.
Push further south and the landscape turns wild — Cape Palliser, the seal colony and the lighthouse at the bottom of the North Island are a proper adventure in a day.

Auckland out to Rotorua, or Christchurch through to Queenstown, are two of the most popular one-way days we drive.
