About this day
Martinborough is a small Wairarapa village that happens to make some of the country's best pinot noir, with a good number of cellar doors within walking distance of the central square.
The obstacle is the Remutaka Hill road between Wellington and the Wairarapa — a winding climb that is no fun to drive after a day of tasting, and the reason a private driver is close to essential for this trip.
You can keep the day compact around the village, or extend it into Greytown and the wider Wairarapa on the way back.
