About this day
The Otago Peninsula runs out from Dunedin along a narrow harbour road to Taiaroa Head, the only mainland royal albatross breeding colony in the world.
The peninsula is also home to sea lions, fur seals and penguins, and the high road back over the ridge gives views across the harbour that most visitors do not expect.
Cruise ships berth at Port Chalmers just across the water, and this makes an excellent private shore day with a guaranteed return.
