Dunedin's airport sits well outside the city, in farmland at Momona. It is a calm, easy terminal — but the surprise for first-time visitors is the run into town, which is longer than most New Zealand airport transfers.

Dunedin handles domestic flights and some trans-Tasman services. The terminal is small and clearing it is quick.

There is not much at the airport itself, and options thin out late in the evening. A pre-booked driver waiting for you is the simplest arrangement.

Getting out of Dunedin Airport
Dunedin catches visitors out in one specific way: they assume the airport is near the city, and it isn't. It sits in farmland south-west of town, and the run in takes real time — especially on a dark winter evening after a delayed connection.
