About this day
Te Anau sits on the shore of New Zealand's second largest lake at the edge of Fiordland National Park, and it is the jumping-off point for Milford, Doubtful Sound and the Kepler Track.
As a day out from Queenstown it is gentler than the full Milford run — the same Southland drive, more time at the lake, and the option of the glowworm caves across the water.
It is also the practical choice if you are booked on a Doubtful Sound trip, which departs from Manapōuri just down the road.
